Amazing week of tourskiing in Switzerland with tons of fresh powder in the middle of April.
My grandfather had given me the first pair of skis probably before I started school. Nobody in my family skied so I had to figure out stuff by myself. There is a small hill behind our house in Slovenia, and as a little boy I spent countless days climbing up the hill and skiing down. The first time I went on ski lift was in high school, when I started going skiing with my friends. Then, about ten years ago I got bored with ski lifts and stopped going skiing, winters suddenly became all about chasing perfect conditions for sport climbing. I had never thought I would get back to skiing and here I am now, skitouring every chance I get.
This winter my friends from Switzerland, Ursula and Lena invited me to their home mountains, to go skitouring with them. We stayed in Juf, a village in the municipality of Avers in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. At 2,126 meters above sea level, it is the highest village with permanent residents in Switzerland and in Europe. Juf has a population of about 24 inhabitants divided over 6 families in a concentrated settlement. There are only 2 t-bar ski lifts there as the place is more oriented for skitouring.
Even though its already April, it snowed pretty much every day there and we had perfect snow for skiing. The scenery and mountains are absolutely incredible. The last and the sunniest day there was probably the best ski day of my life. I have to thank Ursula and Lena for inviting me to this incredible place and Paul for organizing the whole thing. Also thanks to Ines for coming with me.
All of the photos were shot on Fujifilm X100f, take a look and I hope you like them.
