South Tyrol

June, 2023.
Sometimes, the best trips are the simplest ones. That’s what we found in South Tyrol, Austria, where we rented a remote wooden cabin at the end of a valley, surrounded by mountains and hiking trails. The cabin was quiet, with no traffic or noise, just fresh mountain air and the sound of a nearby creek. Mornings started with coffee and yerba mate on the porch, watching the sun rise over the peaks before we set out for hikes. It was just us, the mountains, and Simba trying to chase the occasional marmot.
Each evening, we returned to the cabin, cooked simple meals, and played board games. No distractions, just time to enjoy the outdoors. I brought my Leica M4 loaded with Kodak Portra 160 film. The soft colors were perfect for capturing the scenery, and shooting on film helped me slow down and appreciate the moment. Trips like this remind me why I love photography and nature: they help me notice the details and fully enjoy the experience.
